The Carrot

1956 or '57 Ford near my house. I have been driving past this thing for several years, drooling every time. It was in gray primer until a couple weeks ago, when the seller spray-bombed it in black. It has fenderwell exit headers, steel wheels all around, and doesn't look too bad for an Illinois car. It's been for sale long enough that i'm sure the owner is ready to negotiate quite a bit, price wise. One of my major motivations to get back to work is so i can save up a few bucks and, after buying a reliable daily beater, i want to knock on his door and see what's he's asking. I love the looks of this car, and it's plenty roomy. I'd keep the headers, throw in a decent Y block or junkyard FE, a decent 4 speed (maybe with an overdrive unit) and steelies all around. Simple, dark paint scheme, replace the custom grill with a new factory style piece, and, of course, dumps with blockoffs so i could run smithies or glasspacks for that classic hot rod hooligan sound. It doesn't have to be neck-snapping fast, just loud and scary!
